I purchased this for a very artsy 7 year old. With help from his mom, he was able to be quite creative. He will definitely grow into this wheel. It's just a bit more than a toy and almost a piece of equipment for a child. I think this would be suitable for even a pre-teen.

Excellent pottery wheel for ages 8 and higher. Many of the pottery wheels available for children are battery operated and do not provide adequate speed for real clay molding. The electric adapter with this product allows the continuous, constant speed needed to create a true pottery piece. No frustration and lots of fun.

We got this for my seven year old for her birthday this year. She enjoyed using it, however, it was not as easy as I'd hoped and we've only used it once. I think once she's a little older it might get more use. Also, the clay that you get with the unit doesn't make much.
