![]() Product Description:
The SOG SEAL Pup carries on the tradition of the SOG SEAL Knife 2000, which passed and won out over all competitors in one of the most extensive testing and evaluation programs ever undertaken by the U.S. Government. For those who want all the benefits of the Navy SEAL Knife, but in a smaller version, SOG has created the SEAL Pup. This stowable blade is an excellent field companion for outdoor and underwater adventures.
The SEAL Pup features a partially serrated, scratch-resistant, powder coated blade that is extremely sharp and durable. Its lightweight, glass-reinforced Zytel handle contains a unique diamond pattern for a secure, no-slip grip. The SEAL Pup can be securely carried in its nylon sheath. This scabbard uses a friction fit as well as a backup nylon strap for knife retention, allowing you to carry it upside down or sideways.

Over years of military experience Robert Hanna, currently an active duty Navy SEAL, witnessed a recurring theme: open blades are useful and necessary but dangerous to equipment and personnel. His own personal experience with this problem occurred while training where his platoon was deploying inflatable boats and themselves out of a fixed wing aircraft. Being new and the first one to the boat after it landed in the water, he began cutting away the rigging that attached the parachute to the boat with his knife. He punctured the back of the boat and put his squad at a great disadvantage for the rest of the night.
That experience coupled with countless stories of injuries to people and equipment led Rob to invent his patent pending “GROOOOVE”! He spent months of drafting and testing prototypes. This new innovation allows rope/line to be cut without unsheathing the knife. The sheath is perfect for rescue situations where an open blade can be dangerous. The sheath allows trapped people or animals to be freed from seat belts, rope tangles, or other similar situations with out exposing the trapped to a live blade and possibly causing a more frightening situation. The tip is pointed and cannot be used as a flat head screwdriver and the blade will quickly rust if it is not coated or cleaned and dried after each dive. |
